His passing was added to the growing number of deaths in the Nigerian film industry, known as Nollywood. Over the past four months, Nollywood has mourned the loss of six individuals, including Sisi Quadri, Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Andy Best, Jumoke Aderounmu, and now, Junior Pope.
According to a report by wakadaily, Junior Pope tragically lost his life in a drowning accident while returning from a movie shoot with his colleagues on Anam River in Anambra State.

On March 24th, veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor, who had been battling kidney disease for nearly a year, also passed away.
A week before he died, Ikechukwu Nnadi, a well-known Nollywood producer and marketer, passed away at a private clinic in Owerri, Imo State, after a long illness.
In February, Sisi Quadri, a Yoruba actor, died after being rushed to the hospital in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State. He had been experiencing persistent hiccups caused by kidney-related issues.
While Sisi Quadri was being buried, Mr Ibu, a veteran actor, also passed away at Evercare Hospital. He had been fighting for his life for months and died from a heart attack.
