Tinubu’s administration committed to combating insurgency – Defence Minister

Mohammed Abubakar, the Minister of Defence, has assured the Nigerian military and other security agencies of President Bola Tinubu’s unflinching commitment to their welfare and working conditions to enhance combat readiness against insurgency and terrorism.

According to the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation’s X account, the minister said this when he visited the military operations theatre in Katsina.

While addressing Operation Hadarin Daji at the 213 Forward Operating Base, Katsina, the Minister acknowledged President Tinubu’s significant successes in the fight against insurgency and related crimes.

The statement said, “He urged the troops to continue the fight against insurgency and banditry, commending their sacrifices and commitment.

Regarding the recent incident involving the killing of soldiers in Abia State, the Minister reassured the government’s determination to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent such incidents from happening again.

“‘Air Commodore G.I. Jibia, Commanding Air Component, 213 Forward Operation Hadarin Daji, appreciated the Minister’s visit, stating that it would boost troop morale.’

Earlier, the Minister held an interactive discussion with officers and men of the Headquarters of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji, Katsina, to assess their preparedness in responding to insecurity threats in the region.
