Ugandan police have arrested a 110-year-old man identified as Dominic Babiiha for stabbing his wife 109-year-old, Costansio Bakasisa to death.
According to report, the suspect killed his wife on December 14 for denying him conjugal rights.
Wakadaily learnt that the tragic incident happened on Saturday at their home in Kahunga, located in the western district of Ntungamo.
The regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira, said, “it is alleged that on Thursday 14, at around 8 pm, the deceased reportedly turned down her husband’s request to join him in bed because she was feeling weak and had a cough. The two peasants went to sleep in different rooms with the deceased to move in with his two grandchildren.”
The police spokesman added that Mr Dominic raised an alarm on Saturday morning, saying “he couldn’t die alone,” which prompted one of the granddaughters to check if there was a problem.
“When she opened the door, the granddaughter saw the suspect armed with a billhook. The suspect ordered her out. The suspect then immediately started stabbing the deceased several times, forcing the other great-granddaughter to run out and seek help from neighbours.”
The neighbours found Bakasisa dead, while Babiiha had locked himself in a room where he was discovered unconscious with a bottle of agrochemical beside him.
Police indicated that the violence leading to the woman’s death stemmed from a dispute over conjugal rights.
