Three Nigerian students studying in the United Kingdom have recently established a startup aimed at providing healthcare services specifically tailored to the elderly population.
Damilola Olaopa, along with his co-founders Hameed Abdulrahaman and Samuel Isatayo, are currently pursuing Master’s degrees in the UK.
The inspiration for the startup came from a personal tragedy experienced by one of their colleagues, whose father tragically passed away on October 1, 2023. This event served as a catalyst for the team to develop a business that could make a meaningful impact in the field of healthcare for senior citizens.
According to Olaopa, the startup has plans to expand its services beyond the UK, with ambitions to reach other countries in Europe, as well as the United States and Canada. Their ultimate goal is to provide high-quality and compassionate care to elderly individuals worldwide.
Olaopa stated, “For now, the startup is for Nigerians in the Diaspora, especially in the UK. We are presently registered here. Sandfortcare Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 as a private company and it is limited by shares and the situation of its registration is in Scotland,” he opened up
Meanwhile, Abdulrahman Stated, “Sandfortcare is a healthcare startup dedicated to offering personalised and compassionate healthcare and support service to the parents of Nigerians living in the UK. The Startup ensures parents in Nigeria receive the highest quality of care tailored to their unique needs so that the Children in the UK can have peace of mind knowing their parents are in good health condition.
Isatayo elaborated that with a monthly subscription fee, parents in Nigeria would receive a customized care package including regular health check-ups, personalized nutrition and meal planning, remote consultations, and medication management.
The sponsoring family member residing in the UK would also receive timely wellness reports regarding their parent’s health and well-being.
