Why I did my brain tumour surgery in Nigeria – Aproko Doctor

Medical doctor and social media influencer Chinonso Egemba, popularly known as Aproko Doctor, has revealed why he did his brain tumour surgery in Nigeria.

Egemba took to his social media page to share a two-minute video about his brain tumor, which was diagnosed on 5th of December, had left him partially blind.

Following the success of the surgery, the doctor said his reasons for declining suggestions from friends and well wishers to have the surgery abroad, is because he has faith in the Nigerian health sector.

Posting a picture of the doctor who operated on him via his twitter page, Aproko Docto wrote, “It was Dr. Tayo Ojo, a neurosurgeon here in Nigeria that did the surgery. So many people begged me to leave the country to get the surgery done, but something kept me back here because I still had trust in us. We just need more investment in our health sector.

“Education, health. For me… those are the two systems any nation needs to succeed. I’m dedicating my life to seeing that they succeed in our country Nigeria. I hope you see it too.”

Dr. Tayo Ojo is a consultant Neurosurgeon at LUTH and the Lagoon hospital. Regarded as one of the best neurosurgeons in Africa, Dr. Tayo Ojo won the Young Neurosurgeon Award at the 2013 World Federation of Neurosurgeon Societies.
