Nollywood actor and pastor Yul Edochie has advised popular singer Davido not to quit his music career.
Davido had recently announced on Twitter that he planned to leave the music industry due to the negative attention he receives.
In response, Yul Edochie urged Davido not to pay attention to trolls, emphasizing that they often target successful individuals.
He expressed his belief that Davido is a valuable asset to Nigeria and Africa, and pleaded with him to continue sharing his talent, despite the criticism from haters.
“Retire for who? Retire cos of trolls? When God made you great? Trolls will always troll great people. Great people, steady making headlines. You’re a blessing to Nigeria, to Africa. Keep giving us hits. Losers will never stop hating. Tell them, DIA FADA! BOMBARDIER!! 001. @davido”.
In a similar vein, Wizkid, his competitor, blasted his numerous fans last year for pressuring him to create new music.
Wizkid took to Instagram to announce that he was taking a vacation and would not return for another four years, as he wanted to enjoy the rewards of his hard work.
He even stated the possibility of extending his break to five years or exploring a different career path.
Davido, on the other hand, shared a revelation about his own musical journey in a tweet.
He expressed that since he entered the music industry, nobody has experienced peace, and he actually enjoyed that effect.
During a recent interview, Davido, along with Burna Boy and Wizkid, distanced himself from the Afrobeat genre.
He lamented the tendency to stereotype African artists under the Afrobeats label, regardless of their unique musical styles.
Davido referred to his own music as Afro-fusion, highlighting how Afrobeat was originally pioneered by Fela Kuti but has now become a blanket term for all African songs.
