The 26 out of the 27 lawmakers that had earlier filed impeachment notice against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of the Rivers State have withdrawn their notice.
The lawmakers, led by factional Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, made this known on Wednesday in the notice of withdrawal read on the house floor.
The lawmakers noted that their change of mind complied with the resolutions reached at the truce meeting, saying the decision was made out of respect for the President.
This follows the recent resolution agreement reached by the Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike.
However, Joseph Johnson, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications refuted knowledge of the matter, adding that the government was not aware of the development.
