Tribunal reserves judgment on Atiku’s petition against Tinubu

The presidential tribunal sitting in Abuja has reserved judgment on the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party at 2023 polls.

The former vice-president is challenging the outcome of the February 25 election asking the court to nullify president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory.

Atiku and the PDP in a joint petition are alleging that Tinubu was not qualified to contest at the poll. Adding that the president was was indicted for drug trafficking in the United States, that his academic certificates submitted to INEC were forged, and that Tinubu is a citizen of Guinea.

They also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of manipulating the result to favour Tinubu.

The petitioners closed their case on June 23 after calling 27 witnesses.

The tribunal after adopting the parties’ final written addresses, reserved judgment to a date to be communicated to the parties.
