Some groups of youths in Benin on Sunday 19th November 2023 staged a protest to stop cross-dresser Bobrisky from coming to Edo State.

The protest was geared by an alleged insults directed to the Oba of Benin by Bobrisky in a video clip that circulated back in 2022 when he visited the state.

The popular cross dresser had suggested in the video clip that the Oba of Benin should marry him. The remark, intended as a joke, seems to have offended Benin residents who viewed it as disrespectful to the rich cultural heritage of their land.

Bobrisky later tendered an apology to the Oba and the people of Benin for his comment and it seems all was let to rest.

However, Bobrisky travelled to Benin for an event over the weekend, prompting a spontaneous and impassioned response from the youths who gathered in masse to voice their disapproval of his presence in the state as they clamor for his departure.

In the viral video of the protest on the internet, the youths expressed their rejection on placards bearing messages such as “He is a bad influence; We don’t want him in our state.”

It’s was reported that the protest had escalated forcing the cross dresser to leave Benin hastily for his safety.
