Tragedy in Katsina as bandits threatens to marry abducted new bride, sell 55 wedding guest

The journey to marital bliss turned into a nightmare to newly married bride and her companions in Damari, sabuwa local Government Area of Katsina state.

The daring raid happened last Thursday in the Sabuwa area, when the criminal elements targeted a van transporting the wedding guest.

During the attack four members of a vigilante who attended the wedding lost their lives due to exchange of bullet between them and the bandits.

According to the reports about 55 wedding guest’s predominantly women, were forcefully kidnapped and have been held hostage since the incident.

In the video circulating on social media, the bandits was heard threatening to marry the already married bride to one of their member unless the captives’ relatives paid a ransom of N100 million.

The bandits pointed AK-47 rifles around their necks, and the bride was seen dressed in an army uniform, with one of the bandits saying, “Here is the bride adorned in army uniform.”

The gang leader who was dressed in police uniform warned Governor Dikko Umar Radda, who had pledged to rescue the victims not to try any rescue attempt.

He said, “I am the one who abducted them, and I will never release them until the ransom is paid. And if there is anyone who thinks they could rescue them, they should try it.”
