Its time for governance, politics era is over – Tinubu tells Governors

All 36 state governors received an appeal from President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, urging them to set aside politics and concentrate on governance.

As he stated, nine months past since he assumed office, the nation had changed from what he had known.

At a Ramadan Iftar (breaking of the fast) held in the banquet hall of the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, Tinubu made this statement while hosting governors.

He said, “Your Excellencies, it is a very great honour to have you here to share the breaking of the fast. What I just want to say is the promotion of the message of the month of Ramadan, which coincides with the Christian Lent.

“This overlapping period is very valuable to our country. And we should utilise it to pray more for our country and be good to one another and our neighbours.

“Since we recognise the need to build the nation together, let us know that politics is over. The time for governance is now. We are of the same family and living in the same house but sleeping in different rooms. We have no choice but to comingle correlate and spread love among each other. That is my sermon.”

The governors are the president’s first guests for Iftar; during the holy month, he is anticipated to organize more events with high ranking government officials.

Former President Buhari had previously entertained the All Progressives Congress, the National Assembly’s leadership, traditional rulers, and the judiciary during Ramadan fasts.

The governors’ entrance at approximately 06:30 pm local time was noted by newsmen, despite the fact that the conference was closed to full media coverage.

The governors of Kwara, Delta, Benue, Plateau, Kogi, Kebbi, Bauchi, Borno, Ogun, Nassarawa, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Gombe, Abia, Edo, and Kaduna were sat for the meeting.
