Plateau state government promises to boost firefighting practices in the state

In order to improve operations and guarantee a prompt reaction to any fire occurrence in the State, the Federal Fire Service has sent a Rapid reaction firefighting truck to the State Command of the Service, which has boosted firefighting efforts in Plateau State.

Inaugurating the vehicle, State Governor Caleb Mutfwang took the opportunity to announce his intention to restructure the State Fire Service for maximum efficiency.

The ceremony was conducted in Government House, Jos, by Mutfwang, where he conveyed his gratitude to the Federal Fire Service Director General for his significant assistance in enhancing firefighting efforts and gave his word that he would continue to support efforts to improve State firefighting operations.

Mutfwang’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere in a statement said, “This generous donation serves as a catalyst for our comprehensive review of firefighting mechanisms across the State.

“We are steadfast in our resolve to elevate and sustain the standards of our firefighting department through increased funding, advanced training, and the provision of modern equipment.”

“Plateau State is among the 15 States nationwide selected to receive this state-of-the-art firefighting vehicle,” stated Mr. Tanfa Bonkat, the Acting Controller of the Federal Fire Service in the State, earlier. He went on to describe the vehicle’s capabilities, including its modern features, which include a 500-liter water tank and a 10-liter chemical tank.

In addition to highlighting the vehicle’s versatility across a range of terrains, Bonkat revealed plans for its strategic placement in high-risk regions that are vulnerable to wildfires.
