Popular Nigerian musician Yemi Alade also known as mama Africa has explained why she have not been wining award in Nigeria.

According to the “Johnny crooner, her first scene in the music Industry all the men wanted to sleep with her. Adding that her refusal to engage in such activities may have impacted her awards recognition in the country.

Yemi Alade lamented that countless times she was supposed to be nominated in award categories, was deprived from her because of men.

The 35-year-old said despite being one of the most viewed and most subscribed Nigerian female artists on YouTube, she still feels overlooked by the award shows.

Recall that in February 2024, the singer dragged an unidentified colleague for being disrespectful. She said people shouldn’t assume that everyone is their mate just because they use social media. She also cautioned whoever was receiving her tweets to take their time.

In her words she said, “You see this life, don’t think that because of social media, we are mates. Take your time.” However, she did not share any insights on who exactly her tweet was made for.
