Anglican bishop urges Christians to Be God-fearing

Dr. James Odedeji, the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, has adviced Nigerian Christians to always be conscious of God and approach everything with eternity focus.

The Bishop, in his Easter message celebration which was included in his statement on Wednesday, reminded the Nigerian Christian community to remember the self-sacrifice of Jesus that brought about the celebration.

In the statement titled ‘Celebrating the Lord’s Resurrection’,  the 55-year old Bishop, noted that regardless of the economic reality of Nigerian believers must always make effort to be righteous.

He said, “We are once again in that season of the year when we mark the trial, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is indeed worth remembering that it was that self-sacrifice that opened the door to heaven to those who know and follow Him acceptably.

“We must always remember that Christ, the Prince of Peace, reigns and awaits the coming of His true followers.

“It is, therefore, appropriate that Nigerian Christians, after 40 days of self-denial by fasting in the Lenten season, remember that it does not all end here. They should always be God-conscious in their actions, whether in public or private life, realising that God is everywhere.

“Easter also reminds us that righteousness exalts a nation, and sin is a reproach. All of us, leaders and followers alike, must be Christ-like and live as those believers in Antioch lived.

“I congratulate all Nigerian Christians for being alive to celebrate Easter, despite the economic realities facing us as a nation, but it must be done with eternity in focus.”
