Nigeria Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu has given the command that Omowunmi, the widowed wife of the late singer, Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad to be served a notice of the pending DNA test application.
The legal team managed by Emmanuel Oroko told the court that the Sheriff of the court had tried twice to serve Wunmi the court procedures but all to no avail. He noted that if the process were submitted on her last known address, it would establish good service and she would be aware of the ongoing suit.
The Chief Magistrate then gave an order that Wunmi should be served by posting the court process on her last known address. The new command by the court was contained in a declaration signed by a member of the legal team to the Aloba family, Monoplane Odumosu, and obtained by PUNCH.
The case has since been adjourned till a later date.
Remember that since the singer’s death, many have been advocating for a DNA test to be conducted on Liam, his son to dictate his paternity. Even Mohbad’s father had requested for DNA to be carried out on his son, a statement which Cynthia morgan agreed on.
Omawunmi had asked her father-in-law to get a court order for a DNA test to be done, shockingly she changed her mind, as she made it confessed that she wouldn’t be doing a DNA test for her son. Stating reasons, Omowunmi made it known that no one has the authority to do a DNA test on her son, and she will never allow him to be treated like his father.
Reacting to it, actress, Sarah Martins bashed Omowunmi, calling her a foolish widow, as she pondered over why the mother of one was scared of doing DNA and questioned if she doesn’t want to clear her name and protect the legacy of her late husband.
Similarly, actress, Charity Nnaji addressed Nigerian men telling them that their wives are counterparts if they support Mohbad’s wife. She questioned why Mohbad’s wife would love to go through that kind of stuff, without wanting to clear her name and also save herself from public shame and disgrace.
However, actress, Ifemeludike showed solidarity for Wunmi, admonishing her not to feel less and to speak up and stand her ground. Ifemeludike told her not to prove anyone right and to raise and nurture her son.
Big Brother Naija’s former housemate, Tolanibaj advised Omowunmi that if the test shows mohbad is the father of her son,then she should sue everyone questioning her son’s paternity and asking for a paternity test.
In an interview, actor, Yomi Fabiyi supported Mohbad’s father’s decision to request for a DNA test for his grandson. He stated that Mohbad’s family has every right to ask for DNA as he noted how his father is carrying the weight of the burden of pains and wants conclusions
Yomi Fabiyi stated how Mohbad’s widowed wife can’t reject it if the court gives an order ,for her to do it as no one is innocent when it comes to the ongoing case.
