Neo Akpofure, a contestant on the reality show Big Brother Naija Lockdown, has responded to rumors about him having a sexual relationship with Mabel Makun, the estranged wife of comedian Ayo Makun, also known as AY.
The rumors, which were initially reported by Stella Dimoko Korkus, suggested that the affair caused problems in their failed marriage.
A troll on Twitter criticized Neo, accusing him of being a womanizer and asking if the rumors were true.
“Did u sleep with AY’s wife or not? First-time weh I de hear abt Ashawo man”.
In response, Neo Akpofure said a prayer for God to take action against his father, holding the media responsible for consistently attempting to damage his reputation with false information. He questioned why his name was being dragged into such discussions and emphasized that he would no longer ignore these matters.
“Nah God go punish your papa!!!
I don’t blame you! I blame the stup! media that constantly tries to tarnish my reputation over things I know nothing about because wtf is my name doing in this conversation in the first place! I’m done ignoring, I get una time!”.
He previously expressed a desire for God to take action against individuals spreading untrue rumors about him.
“May God punish all of you that wake up in your houses to cook rumors about me! May you continue to sit on your dreams but have just enough data to watch me live mine. Had enough of this BS!”.
The news of the comedian’s marriage falling apart after nearly twenty years is no longer surprising.
AY confirmed the end of his marriage in an Instagram post, expressing regret for losing the home he had spent almost two decades building. He also admitted to making compromises during the marriage.
However, he cautioned against spreading false information about him and his family, as it could harm his teenage daughter.
Suggesting that his wife may have played a part in the breakdown of their marriage, Ayo Makun acknowledged that no one is completely innocent and claimed that women often portray themselves as victims and come out on top.
His estranged wife also spoke out, stating that her dreams of a lifelong marriage have taken a different path and she is determined to move forward with grace and resilience.
As a mother of two, she pleaded with the media and the public to respect her and her estranged husband’s privacy as they navigate this new phase of their lives. She acknowledged the lies and attacks she has faced on social media but vowed not to address them in order to protect her children. However, she emphasized that her silence should not be misinterpreted and that AY deserves a certain level of respect.
