Kuje Prison Attack: Notorious kidnap Wadume, among escaped inmates

A notorious kidnapper Kingpin and gun runner, Hamisu Wadume, is among the inmates who escaped during the Kuje prison attack on Tuesday night.

The authorities of the Nigerian Correctional Service had reported that over 400 of the escaped inmates have been recaptured, but Wadume, who is said to be in custody in Kuje Correctional facility since 2020, was not among the fleeing inmates recaptured by the security agencies.

According to reports Hamisu Wadume, “was arrested by IRT operatives in Takum, Taraba for terrorizing people of the state with his criminal activities.

“But the IRT operatives came under heavy firing by soldiers of 93 Battalion, Takum, in Taraba state, killing three police officers and one civilian staff in the process on the grounds that they were not properly identifiable and their vehicle had nothing to show they were policemen.”

Wakadaily gathered that gunmen invaded the Kuje prison late night Tuesday and attacked the Medium Security Custodial Centre, in Abuja. mission to rescue their colleague who is in the prison.

Reacting to the incident president Buhari is shocked and wonders how terrorists attack Kuje prison and get away with it.

His tweet, “Saddened by the attack on the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje. I am disappointed with the intelligence system. How can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security installation and get away with it? I am expecting a comprehensive report on this shocking incident.”
