Imo PDP members raises alarm as party chairman, prominent leaders resigns

Chief Charles Ugwu, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Imo State chapter, has resigned from both his role and the party.

A few days after former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha announced his departure from the party, Ugwu’s resignation coincides with a wave of resignations rocking the state PDP.

Together with the state chairman, prominent PDP members in Imo have also quit, including Prof. Jude Njoku, a former education commissioner, the immediate past deputy governor, Engr. Gerald Irona, and the former vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.

A former lawmaker named Ikenga Mayor Eze, a former chief of staff named Dr. Vin Udokwu, a PDP State Youth Leader named Evang Anozie Udenwa, a candidate for the Ikeduru State House of Assembly named Barr Sonny-Unachukwu John, and a candidate for the Isiala Mbano State Assembly named Pius Omah are among the other resigning members.

Former commissioners Chief Sir Martin Opara (Ikemba), Chief Mrs. Ann Njoku, High Chief Angus Okorie, Chief Edward Uzoechila Ezeh, and Engineer Sly Enwerem and Hon. Chief Nkiruka Ibekwe Esq. are among the others.

The Owerri Zonal Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Chief Ben Mere; the zonal secretary, Prince Macdonald Enwerem; and Hon. Ike Uche are among the prominent PDP leaders who resigned.

Along with Hon. Engr Chidi Ugochukwu, Hon. Goddy Nwabekee, the party’s auditor, Barr Chisom Dominic, Nze Anselm Ikwu, Sir Emeka Amajirionwu, Comr. Patrick Okoro, Sir Ralph Emeka Udeh, and Okoronkwo Rex, the former chairman of the Aboh Mbaise Local Government, High Chief Jonathan Onyeneke, and his counterpart in the Ezinihite Local Government, Hon. Mrs. Gertrude Iroemeh, joined forces with them to leave the PDP.
