Bauchi to rehabilitate NYSC camp

Bauchi state Government has indicated plans to embark on a comprehensive redesigning and rehabilitation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Wailo Village, Ganjuwa Local Government.

This decision was announced by Senator Bala Mohammed, the State Governor, during a facility tour to assess the condition of the camp on Tuesday.

The governor’s visit revealed the dire state of the camp, which has been in disrepair for some time.

The governor expressed concern over the inadequate facilities and infrastructure, which have hindered the smooth operation of the NYSC programme in the state.

He emphasised, “Given the importance of the NYSC scheme in promoting national unity and development, the rehabilitation of the camp is crucial in providing a conducive environment for corps members to undergo their orientation and training.”

The comprehensive rehabilitation will include the renovation of buildings, upgrading of infrastructure, and provision of modern facilities.

“This project will be completed in record time to ensure that the corps members enjoy a comfortable and productive stay at the camp.”

The governor said that the rehabilitation of the camp is part of the state government’s efforts to improve the welfare of corps members and support the NYSC scheme as well as youth development and national service.

On her part, the state coordinator of the scheme, Mrs. Rifkatu Daniel, in a thankful remark, opined that “the rehabilitation of the camp will not only benefit corps members but also contribute to the economic growth of the local community, as the project will create jobs, stimulate local economic activity, and enhance the overall development of the area.”
