Anchor VC canvasses discipline in varsities

Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, the Vice-Chancellor, Anchor University, Lagos said the order within the university system is  an important step of achieving the purpose of its establishment.

Bandele disclosed this at the 2024 matriculation, saying that authority in the university system encompassed adherence to academic integrity and principles.

Total number of student participated in the matriculation was 699.

He said, “Discipline within the university system is an indispensable step to achieving the purpose of its establishment. There must be searchlights on ethics. Discipline in the university system also encompasses adherence to academic integrity principles, which include honesty, fairness, and accountability in academic work. Universities typically have a code of conduct that outlines expectations for students’ behaviour both inside and outside of the classroom.”

He advised the student to strive for academic excellence by attending classes, participating actively in discussions, completing assignments on time, studying diligently, and preparing thoroughly for exams and to demonstrate diligent labour.

Bandele explained that the efforts of the Chancellor, Pastor William Kumuyi, at creating a university of global excellence had given the university an opportunity over other universities that started before AUL.
