Army Chief Lagbaja has not resigned – Spokesman

The Nigerian Army has firmly refuted that Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja,  the Chief of Army Staff has resigned.

According to the new gathered online had suggested that Lgbaja had submitted his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu.

The report further claimed that his resignation came 24 hours after escaping an assassination attempt on his life.

It noted that Lagbaja’s resignation has thrown the military hierarchy into a state of confusion within the military force.

Also speaking, the Maj Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, has dismissed the claims as “fake news.”

“It is fake news; please disregard it,” he simply said.

Lagbaja is the 23rd Chief of Army Staff.

Wakadaily learnt that Lagbaja was appointed on June 19, 2023, by President Tinubu to succeed Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya.
