Avoid protest, focus on election – Shehu Sani tells Nigerians

Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has urged Nigerians to focus on the upcoming election rather than protesting over scarcity of the newly redesigned Naira notes.

Wakadaily gathered that there was tension in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State on Wednesday where residents staged a protest over the expiration of the deadline date and rejection of old naira notes by commercial banks. The protesters had set two banks ablaze, First bank  and Access bank to register their anger.

Reacting to it, the senator who represented Kaduna Central senatorial district in the 8th National Assembly, appealed to Nigerians to remian calm and focus on the 2023 general elections.

Shehu Sani wrote on Twitter, “The general public must avoid any form of protest in d name of cash or fuel scarcity at this 11th hour. The people in d south east must defy any call for sit at home. Any spark is intended to lead to conflagration. Anti democratic elements must be resisted. Let’s focus on d election.”
