The Local government election for benue State has been fixed by the Independent Electoral Commission for July 6, 2024.
John Chen, the commission’s chairman, declared this on Friday when he met with stakeholders to unveil the election timetable in Makurdi, the state capital.
Chen, assured residents of the state a free, fair, and credible elections.
He further said the commission would not organize fake election just as he said that the dangers of such transcends enthronement of people of dubious acceptability into leadership positions, ultimately leading to dismal performance in governance
According to the timetable made available by the commission, “the local government election in the state will now hold on July 6, 2024.”
He said, “Alongside the election timetable, BSIEC is proud to announce its intention for the creation of additional council wards within Benue State.“
“Today’s gathering marks a significant step towards fulfilling that promise. We are here to unveil the official election timetable and schedule of activities for the upcoming LG elections in Benue State. This comprehensive document outlines the critical milestones BSIEC will undertake to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
“BSIEC recognises the vital role each stakeholder plays in ensuring successful elections. These stakeholders include political parties, civil society organisations, the media, and, of course, our esteemed security agencies, that is why you are all invited to witness this momentous occasion.
