The Academic Staff Union of University ( ASUU), have extended their ongoing strike by another four week. The union disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
The National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union was held at its headquarters located on the campus of the University of Abuja, its President, Emmanuel Osodeke, said the decision was made after a meeting of ASUU on Sunday, noted that the failure of the Nigerian government to fulfill its promises.
Osodeke said “Following extensive deliberations and taking cognisance of Government’s past failures to abide by its own timelines in addressing issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA), NEC resolved that the strike be rolled over for four weeks to give Government more time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues.”
Recall that ASUU has been on strike since 14 February 2022, to protest over the non-implementation of its demands by the federal government.
