Court grants Kano TikToker N5million bail

Kano State high court led by Justice Nasiru  Saminu , who granted the bail of Tik Toker Murja Kunya on Monday with the sum of N5,000,000, alongside with two reliable sureties, including a relative and an individual, with landed property in kano municipal.

Following a directive from the Kano Shari’ah Court, Murja filed for bail in other to proceed to carry out the mandatory mental evaluation by a psychiatric doctor.

Justice Saminu, In his ruling on Monday, assertained the need for release of the TikToker stating that the court would be observing the Easter break while she had been in custody since February 20.

He Furthersaid, the court registry also ordered verification of the sureties’ properties.

However, Murja was barred by the judge  from using her social media accounts until the case was determined.

“Any violation of the restriction would compel the Kano Commissioner of Police to arrest and bring back the Tik Toker to the court,” the judge ordered.

Also, the judge  ordered that “the defendants’ counsel, the Attorney General, representatives from the Hisbah Board, and the Commissioner of Police must be in attendance to address amendments to the Kano State Hisbah Board Amended Law for proper adjudication.”

Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned till May 16, 2024, for further proceedings.

Moreso, it should be recalled that the development following Murja’s arrest by the Hisbah Board after it raised concerns over her conduct and postings on Twitter, alleging immorality.
