- Popular Afrobeat star Davido has taken to social media to address and dispel rumors of him being arrested in a recent update.
In his Instagram story, he stated that the rumors were untrue. He also clarified that he had never been arrested before, neither in Nigeria nor anywhere else in the world.
He criticized the irresponsible nature of fabricating such allegations, even if it was done on April Fool’s Day. Additionally, he mentioned that his lawyer was taking legal action against the media outlets responsible for spreading false information.
The ‘Unavailable’ Crooner expressed gratitude towards his fans for the ongoing support they have provided. In his own words, he conveyed the following message.
“SETTING RECORD STRAIGHT ON FALSE ARREST REPORTS
Fam, it has come to my attention that false reports regarding an arrest circulated online on April 1st, which has since led to a barrage of calls.
I want to assure my fans that these reports are entirely untrue. I successfully completed my scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya and have since returned home to Nigeria.
I’d also like to note that I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world. Not my home Nigeria, my home America, or any of the hundreds of countries I’ve made home throughout my career.

Yesterday, there were reports that Davido had been held at JKIA airport in Kenya. According to K24TV, he was detained by the Anti-Narcotics Police Unit after they searched his private jet at Kenyatta International Airport. However, no additional details or background information were provided.
Wakadaily reported that following the controversies surrounding Very Darkman in the past few days, he has made it clear that he doesn’t want Davido to be part of any efforts that could help him get released.
