Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, better known as Davido has congratulate South African singer, Tyla for winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards.
Tyla beat Nigerian sensational artistes Davido, Burnaboy, Asake, Olumide and Ayra Starr for the Best African Music Performance category at the 2024 Grammys.
The 22-year-old song, ‘Water’ came top against ‘Amapiano’ by Asake and and his boss Olamide; ‘City Boys’ by Burna Boy; Davido featuring Musa Keys for his hit ‘Unavailable’; and ‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr.
Despite losing all the three categories which he was nominated for, Davido still took to his Instagram story to felicitated his co-nominee Tyla for emerging victorious.
The father of five describes Tyla’s win as a big win for Africa.
David wrote, “Congratulations on your win @Tyllaaaaaaa! Big One for africa! Keep soaring!”
Expressing her gratitude, Tyla said she didn’t expect it but was overjoyed to win her first Grammy award at age 22.
