Davido’s visits the Senate President, Akpabio, sparks various responses

Davido, a highly acclaimed music artist, has gained attention on the internet after paying a respectful visit to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

On Monday, May 20th, the singer visited the Senate President accompanied by his cousins, Hon. Tunji Adeleke and Folasade Adeleke.

The Senate President expressed his joy at Davido’s visit and praised him for representing Nigeria exceptionally well through his remarkable performances.

He said, “You have made us very proud within the International Community”.

The president of the Senate assured that he would make every effort to continue supporting the entertainment sector, while also advising Davido and other individuals to uphold strong moral values and resist negative influences from their peers.

“We will do everything possible to support the entertainment industry.
So I want you to continue to remain a great Ambassador of our country. Don’t allow anybody to drag you into politics. Continue to do your best in the entertainment industry.

For us in the political arena, we value talents and what God has given to you, nobody can take it away from you. We do everything possible to support the industry. To support talented people like you. All we need also is patience and prayers so that we can succeed.

Please do your best to continue to maintain the high ethics. What is happening in America with some of the black stars is quite unfortunate. For most of you in the industry, don’t allow peer group influence derail you. Continue to do your best”.

Davido, in his speech, remembered the times when Akpabio provided accommodation for him and his team during his tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom State and later as a Minister.

He also informed the Senate President about his Foundation, which provides support to orphanages.

“As for me, I’m doing my part. I have a Foundation. Every year, I share N300 million, N400 million to orphanages.Just doing my own part to assist the society. We have new album coming out June or July. I just thank you for everything you have been doing for us.”

The response to his visit was varied, with some people highlighting the hypocrisy of celebrities dining with oppressors while claiming to support the general public.

Mazi Jude Pondis commented, “If music don tire OBO let him enter politics abeg. I no dey like the kind people he dey hangout with lately”.

One, Famito commented, “These celebrities will dine with the oppressors and still claim to be fighting for the poor masses”.

Another person, Khiss Baby Official commented, “One day Davido go rule Nigeria”.

Alpha Presh commented, “See person wey dey admonish person on moral ethics”.

Few days ago, Davido expressed his appreciation for his uncle Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recently completed project in Osun State.

He commended him for revealing the building project, which would greatly benefit the people of the state.

It is worth stating that Davido actively supported his uncle during the Governorship campaign in Osun State, and when he emerged victorious, Davido openly celebrated on social media.
