In readiness of the next elections in 2027, Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has taken steps to restructure the party in Akwa Ibom State, which has been commended by a diaspora political group affiliated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United States of America (USA).
APC stalwart in the state and the group’s ambassador, Dr. Marshall Umoren, praised Akpabio for his ongoing efforts to turn the party into a winning squad and voiced hope that the APC would be well-positioned to seize power in the state in 2027 after the rebuilding process was complete.
“We want to commend the Senate President for demonstrating high capacity and to show appreciation for the integrity and soaring standing of the party leadership in the state.
“He has as well affirmed his sworn position to exhibit continuous loyalty and a firm commitment to help build a virile party capable of commanding the needed confidence of winning over the state in future political elections,” he noted.
In an interview published in Uyo, the state capital, Umoren stated the group’s stance and responded to recent claims attributed to the Senate president regarding his choice to use his powerful position for cross-party advancement and the state’s welfare.
In his Sallah meeting, Akpabio gave his constituents from various political parties the assurance that there would be excellent government at all levels and that cooperation would be necessary to provide Nigerians with the benefits of democracy.
The Senate President announced during the constituency meeting that, as part of Governor Umo Eno’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration, he would endeavor to see Akwa Ibom State developed in accordance with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
