Music producer and Marvin Records boss Don Jazzy airs his opinion on people who claim to have suffered in the beginning, stating that his childhood experience of selling akara with his mum helped shaped him.
Don Jazzy revealed this on the “Zero Conditions” podcast, he said he didn’t believe most people that said they suffered really suffered, as he opened up on how selling akara with his mum helped his life as he always looked forward to being noticed by big men that passed by or came to patronize his mother.
He said, “I remember it like it was yesterday… I remember sitting down with my mum frying akara there, sitting on the bench there in Ajegunle, and any big man that passes by with their Peugeot 504 or Mercedes 230 or whatever and they come to buy akara. I also remember the thought in my head, ‘I wish this man would just look at me and go Young boy just take this, I know that you need it’ or something like that.”
He also went on to reveal that now that he is successful, this experience made it impossible for him to meet someone that is struggling without helping in some way and that he can’t do without giving back to the community.
“I have a problem with people meeting me and not getting impacted,”
