The Department of State Service DSS, has arrested one of the Lagos State coordinator for Obidient rally, which was organised by the supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

It was gathered that the coordinator, Joseph Onuorah, was arrested at the airport when he arrived in Lagos from France for the rally on Saturday.

The March is to demonstrate support for the Labour Party candidate, which was held in major cities in the country like,  Lekki, Ikeja, Surulere, Festac Town in Lagos, Benin and Akwa Ibom on Saturday, 1st October.

The supporters of the former Anambra state governor most known as “Obi-dients” were seen gathering in critical locations across Nigeria, including Lagos, Kaduna, Abia, and Edo state.

The supporters started the walk from the Admiralty Junction moving through the major road in Lekki carrying flags, banners, and other paraphernalia as they marched towards the Jakande, Elegushi axis, ostensibly to avoid clashes with the police already stationed at the Lekki Toll Gate.

“The rally, according to the conveners, is to garner organic support for the LP presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Wakadaily reports that the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos had on 18 September 2022, ordered the Labour Party and its supporters not to meet at the Lekki toll gate for its #Obidatti23 forward Ever rally slated to hold on the 1st of October.

The court also ordered the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, and the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Abiodun Alabi, to ensure compliance with the order. A lot of policemen were seen all around Lekki on Friday, ahead of the rally.”
