This incident was confirmed by SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the state command’s spokesperson.

He said the divisional police officer in charge of Adesuwa Police Station, Benin, received a report of defilement on March 27 from the mother of the victim who resides along Uwa Street off, Sapele Road Benin.

As claimed by Nwabuzor,  the woman reported at the station that her 13-year-old daughter was raped to a state of unconsciousness by one Promise whose surname was yet to be known.

He further said, the victim has been taken to the Edo State Specialist Hospital for medical attention.

He said, “I can confirm that the police got a report of defilement. One promise was said to have raped a 13-year-old girl to a state of unconsciousness and has since run away.”
