Four burnt to death, 16 injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident

No fewer than four persons were reportedly burnt to death while sixth others sustained several injuries in a lone accident on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday.

A statement by Sector Commander, Ogun State Command, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Hamed Umar, noted that the fatal crash occurred at about 7: 50am on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway around Oniworo, after Foursquare Camp.

He said, “The bus driver was speeding excessively before losing control and ramming into the median, which then caused the bus to summersault and burst into flames.

“A total of 20 persons were involved, four burnt beyond recognition while one female and 15 men were injured. The lone crash involving a Mazda bus with registration number APP934XH. Adding that the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere.

Umar advised motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations to avoid accidents.
