Google has announced the appointment of a Nigerian-born tech expert, Alex Okosi as its Managing Director for the Africa region.
Okosi will be responsible for Google’s operations in Africa, including programs to help businesses and economies grow, expanding access and providing tools to help the next billion users get more from the web.
Alex Okosi is a Nigerian-born tech expert and the Managing Director for YouTube in EMEA Emerging Markets.
Vice President of EMEA Emerging Markets at Google, Meir Brand announced his appointment with the global technology company in a terse statement.
“Alex is a proven leader with a wealth of experience in the media and technology industries. He deeply understands African countries and is passionate about using technology to empower people and businesses”, Brand said.
He served as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of BET International and Viacom International Media Networks Africa before joining YouTube. Okosi played a pivotal role in directing the growth and expansion of the platform across Africa, Turkey, and the Middle East.
He also introduced entertainment brands like MTV Base, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and BET to the African continent.
