Late singer Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Aloba better known as Mohbad’s, Widow Omowunmi has revealed the financial state of her late husband when he left Marlians record.
Omowunmi spoke out about her late husband’s ordeal with his former label boss, Naira Marley.
She stated during the Coroner’s Inquest, that she never knew Naira Marley until Mohbad started talking about him and he became popular. She claimed that she warned him against signing with Naira Marley and to only feature him in a song, but he refused.
She also stated that before joining the Marlians record, Mohbad was already doing well for himself as he had won a challenge on instagram.
The widowed mother of one revealed that things went south between her late husband and the Marlians record label when he wanted to leave the label and requested to change his manger.
She stated that Mohbad asked for a change in manager from Naira Marley’s cousin, Tunde to another, but the label declined.
She noted that the started getting threats from them and by 2022, when he left the label, he wasn’t stable again.
Pointing out that Mohbad left the record label broke, Omowunmi stated that, singer Bella Shmurda who is a friend to her late husband fed them for 3 months after he left.
She also also disclosed how the late singer tried all means to reach out to some artists but they never responded except Bella and Olamide.
“One day he told me that Naira Marley sent him a message on Instagram to come see him. I advised him to only feature Naira Marley on one song, and not sign a record deal with him but Mohbad said signing would help his career,” Wunmi testified.
Mohbad wanted to change him because he wasn’t doing anything. However, Naira Marley said they are the ones who will choose his manager.
“He started receiving different thr£ats from his oppre§§or and by 2022, when he left the label, he wasn’t stable again. He left with zero accounts. He didn’t have anything to start again and he started struggling to survive. Bella Shmurda fed us for three months when the issue happened as things were hard,” Wunmi said.
