Nollywood actress Ruth Eze has expressed anger towards her fellow actors who are celebrating the birthday of their late colleague, Junior Pope.
In March, it was reported that Junior Pope lost his life in a drowning incident along with some crew members.
On May 7th, which would have been his 44th birthday, many of his colleagues took to Instagram to mourn him.
Ruth Eze questioned whether these colleagues celebrated Junior Pope when he was alive.
She stated that if they did not, they should provide her with a reason why they are now celebrating him after his death.
She called them hypocrites and demanded an answer from them.
“Did u ever celebrate him when he was alive? If NO, give me one reason u’re celebrating him now he’s dead”.
“Hypocrites, pls answer me”.
Even though Ruth Eze didn’t explicitly mention any names, many people in the comments section understood that she was talking about Baba Rex.
He had made a post for himself and disabled the comments. In his birthday message, he mentioned how they would have celebrated his birthday if he had been buried.
However, since he hadn’t been laid to rest yet, he wished him a happy birthday.
Rita Edochie, who was like a mother figure to him, expressed her sadness at not being able to physically celebrate his birthday with him.
She stated that her heart was once again broken as she asked him questions, but found comfort in knowing that he is watching over them.
Rachael Okonkwo shared her heartbreak at not being able to call him and wish him a happy birthday.
She prayed for God to accept his soul and promised that he will always be in her heart.
Stanley Nwoko said that this is his first birthday without his family, fans, and colleagues.
He expressed deep sadness that they can no longer see him, comparing his death to a thief. However, he is grateful to God.
Yul Edochie’s estranged wife, May, wrote an emotional message to Junior Pope’s widow, acknowledging the difficulty of posthumous birthdays and the painful memories they bring.
She shared screenshots of Junior Pope’s last messages to his wife and expressed her frustration and sadness over his death.
