I’ll sue lady who condemned my product – Erisco boss Umeofia

Founder and President of Erisco Foods Limited, Eric Umeofia, has threatened to sue the lady who alleged that their tomato paste contains too much sugar.

Wakadaily reported that the lady identified as Chioma Egodi, took to her Facebook page to publish a review on the product.

According to her, “I use to make stew. I didn’t see Gino and Sonia. So, I decided to buy this one. When I opened it, I decided to taste it. Omo! Sugar was just too much. Ha, biko, let me know if you have used this tin tomato before because this is an Ike gwuru situation,” she wrote on September 17.

Reacting to her post, Erisco Foods Limited described the claim as untrue and unfounded, the company further arrested Chioma, a development that has received wide condemnations from people.

Speaking on Thursday, Erisco boss while appearing on the Arise News Global Business Report show, said he won’t allow the woman to falsely criticise his product.

Umeofia said: “I am pursuing legal charges against her because I have a conscience. Is she right to falsely criticise my product, and people are supporting her? I have over 3000 people in my factory; indirectly, we are paying 20,000 people. I cannot allow this type of ‘syndicate’ to come and destroy my business.

I’ve been producing this product for over 10 years, and somebody cannot come overnight to [spoil it]. Should I allow her because she’s the weaker one? She’s not the first person to do a product review.”

“When we could not get her, we wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police to help us. I have the right to write a petition when I’m not feeling comfortable.”
