I’m not a ritualist, I removed my ex-lover’s intestines to cover up — Footballer

A 47-year-old Footballer, Bankole Oginni better known as Honourable Kole, has denied being a ritualist.

The suspect was arrested for killing his ex-lover, Bosede Adejoro, in Akure, the Ondo state capital. Oginni reportedly pour hot water on the woman’s body before killing her and removed the deceased intestines.

It was gathered that the daughter of the deceased who waited for her mother’s return from her ex-lover, had to traced her mother to the house.

The Ondo police who visited the scene of the incident found the woman’s hands and legs tied with her intestines missing.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmi Odunlami said: “a young lady reported at the station that her mother former lover, Bankole Oginni called and invited her over to his place at Oke aro area of Akure.

She explained that after she left for Oginni’snhouse for several hours and did not return and her phone was switched off, she had to trace her mother to the house, only to find her lifeless body in the room of the ex lover.

“The young girl said her mother’s legs and hands were tied and her body opened with intestines removed while there were patches on her body that shows sign of hot water burns.

”We swung into action and the suspect was arrested. The suspect is in the police custody while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue.”

Speaking to journalists on Monday, the footballer claimed he didn’t remove the ex-lover body part for ritual purposes, citing that he did that to cover up from police.

He said: “I told her to meet me at my parent’s house and she was about to take the soft drinks I offered her when she slumped and I was so scared.”

He claimed he was scared when the woman slumped and he decided to pour hot water on her body to resuscitate her.

”But when it dawn on me that the she was dead, I poured the hot water on her with the hope that she will wake up. When it dawn on me that she is not going to wake again, I decided to cut her and put it in a sack and dispose it somewhere later.

“I cut her intestines and her so that I can put them inside bags. It was because I was very scared, I was perplexed and I was afraid of the police. I did not do it for any purpose. Nobody sent me to remove her private parts. I did it to cover myself.

”I was afraid of the police and wanted to cover up, I did not know what to do and that made me take some hard decisions.”
