Kebbi gov approves N309m for foreign scholarship

Dr Nasir Idris, the Kebbi State Governor, has approved the sum of N309,584,041.80 to be used for the payment of foreign scholarships for students from the state studying in India and Egypt.

On Tuesday, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, the State Commissioner of Higher Education, declared this while briefing newsmen on the development in his office in Birnin Kebbi.

Giving the breakdown, the Commissioner said, “The sum of N228,150,148:00 is for 63 students studying in India, while N81,433,893:80 is for 23 students studying in Egypt.

“The remaining 50 foreign students shall have their expenses settled within the shortest possible time.”

In February 2024, the commissioner stated that the governor had paid local scholarships to all the state students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across the country.

Abubakar noted that the ministry remains appreciated for all the efforts of the governor in the higher education sector.
