Kuje Prison Attack: Soldiers block entry, exit roads into Abuja 

Emerging from the gunmen’s attack at Kuje prison on Tuesday late night, soldiers have reportedly blocked the checkpoints from motorists entering and leaving the city.

Wakadaily gathered that gunmen invaded the Kuje prison late night Tuesday and attacked the Medium Security Custodial Centre, in Abuja. mission to rescue their colleague who is in the prison.

The Nigerian Correctional Service had earlier confirmed the incident.

It says “I wish to confirm that at about 2200hrs, some yet-to-be-identified gunmen attacked the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, in the Federal Capital Territory.

“However, men of the Armed Squad of the Nigerian Correctional Service and other security agencies attached to the Custodial Centre have responded and calm has been restored to the facility and the situation is under control.”

Private vehicle owners and commercial vehicles made a U-turn back to the city following the time clam are completely restored. Passengers were seen descending from the bus and trekking back to their homes.

According to reports, the Kuje road leading to the airport road is blocked, and even the exit road from Kuje leading to Gwagwalada has been blocked as well.
