The Zamfara State chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have urged all affiliated unions in the state to adhere to the directives of the national leadership and join the nationwide strike. They emphasized the importance of fair wages for Nigerian workers.

The chairpersons of NLC and TUC, Comrade Sani Halliru (Magajin Rafin Kurya) and Sa’idu Mudi, made this statement during a media interview in Gusau.

The strike is a response to grievances regarding the delay in passing a new National Minimum Wage Act and the increase in electricity tariffs by the Federal Government.

The Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) emphasized that Nigerian workers, who are the driving force behind the country’s economy, ought to receive fair and decent wages that are commensurate with the current economic conditions, reflecting the true value of their contributions.

“It is disheartening that despite our repeated calls and the clear ultimatum issued, the government continues to neglect its responsibility to the workforce”.

The presidents of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) jointly urged union leaders across the state to ensure full compliance, emphasizing that the issue at hand has far-reaching implications that affect the welfare of all Nigerians.
