Oleksandr Usyk defeats Anthony Joshua by split decision

The highly anticipated heavyweight rematch between British-Nigerian Anthony Joshua versus Oleksandr Usyk rematch, which took place in Saudi Arabia’s port city of Jeddah.

The just concluded biggest boxing match, Anthony attempt to regain his heavyweight title in a main even clash with Usyk but was defeated by split decision.

The Ukrainian professional boxer won, after 12 close rounds, on a split decision.

Speaking after the rematch Usyk said, ‘if his not fighting with Tyson Fury Next, he won’t fight at all’.

He said, “I’m sure that Tyson Fury is not retired yet,” Usyk says. “I’m sure. I’m convinced he wants to fight me. I want to fight him. And if I’m not fighting Tyson Fury, I’m not fighting at all.

Usyk said “Many generations are going watch this fight, especially the [10th] round, when someone tried to beat me hard, but I standed it and turned it in a different way. Thanks, God.”

When asked whether he though he won the fight in light of the protestations from Joshua’s corner. “Yes, of course,” he said.
