The presidentail candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed sadness over the passing of Brazil football legend, Pele.
Wakadaily gathered that the Brazilian legend, Pele, died on Thursday at the age of 82, was regarded as the game’s greatest player, he had scored more than 1,000 goals.
The legend died at the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital in Sao Paulo, after a long battle with colon cancer.
The 82-year-old had been receiving regular treatment from doctors ever since undergoing surgery to have a tumour on his colon removed in September 2021.
A post from Pele’s official Twitter read, “Inspiration and love marked the journey of King Pelé, who peacefully passed away today. Love, love, and love, forever.”
Mourning the deceased via his Twitter page, Obi wrote, “The legend of Pele endures. He lived his best life; lived out his destiny and impacted the football game, immeasurably. Generations of football stars take after him. He was a fulfilled man, and above all, a legend. Rest on Pele! -PO.”
