Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau State, has called on elders in the PDP’s state chapter to preserve the party’s principles and work to advance harmony, tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation within the party.
At his home in the former Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, Governor Mutfwang made this statement during a breakfast meeting with PDP Elders’ Forum members and stakeholders.
In order to maintain the party’s stability and respect the wishes of the people, particularly at the grassroots level, he emphasized the significance of the elders’ prudent counsel and advice.
While acknowledging that there will be congresses soon to elect party officials, Governor Mutfwang issued a warning about acts that can cause divisions within the party.
He emphasized the need of reaching an agreement and being inclusive.
He stated, “PDP belongs to the people of Plateau; it is a platform they have identified with since 1999. It is imperative to have the body of elders functioning, as their wisdom is invaluable in guiding the party.”
In order for peace to prevail, elders must show leadership and offer wise guidance, as Governor Mutfwang pledged that the party would soon begin the congress process.
In the meantime, Raymond Dabo, the chairman of the PDP Elders’ Forum, thanked the governor for his leadership and reaffirmed the elders’ dedication to advancing the party.
Prominent party members and previous ministers were among the distinguished elders present at the meeting, which also featured former governor Jonah Jang and Amb. Yahaya Kwande.
