Actress Ovularia, also known as Madam Elizabeth Evoeme, has sadly passed away at the age of 81.
Ovularia, famous for her role in the popular 80s TV show ‘The New Masquerade’, died with her loved ones by her side.
The Evoeme Emekalam family released a statement expressing their appreciation for the support from fans, friends, and colleagues, and asked for privacy during this difficult time.
“Friends, fans, colleagues, the family of the legendary actress, Elizabeth Lizzy ‘Ovularia’ Evoeme, would like to notify the public, all those who loved her and her work in ‘The new Masquerade,’ of her passing.
“Elizabeth ‘Ovularia’ Evoeme will be dearly missed and was extremely loved by her family and also by you, her fans.
“We thank you all for your support and for respecting our privacy at this time. God bless you all and may our dear Elizabeth ‘Ovularia’ Evoeme rest in perfect peace, now and always.”
Justina Ngozi Evoeme, who resides in London and is the daughter of Ovularia, expressed her deep sorrow and disbelief over her mother’s recent passing, describing it as a distressing event that she is still trying to comprehend.
This news comes precisely four and a half years after rumors circulated about Ovularia’s death on November 5, 2019, triggered by a Twitter post from Churchill Ebhodaghe, which led to speculations about her demise.
In 2019, Ovularia addressed the rumors and stated that she considered them to be untrue. She also expressed her disapproval towards the individuals responsible for spreading the false information, stating that they should be punished.
Chika Okpala, famous for playing Chief Zebrudaya Okoroigwe Nwaogbe in ‘The New Masquerade’, also dismissed the rumors at that time and confirmed that Ovularia was doing well.
