Stop harassing IBEDC officials, MD begs customers

Following the recent increase in electricity tariff, Kingsley Achife, the Managing Director of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, has pleaded to customers of the utility company to stop harassing its workers on the field.

He disclosed this in his Eid-el-Fitri statement, that was made available to the press.

Achife, stressed the importance of the season’s sacrifice in developing love and selflessness for Nigeria’s prosperity, said it was an offence to attack IBEDC staffs.

He called on all customers to report their complaints to IBEDC offices or call the customer care line, saying an attack on the company’s staff attracts jail terms.

The managing director appealed to customers to stop assaulting IBEDC staff, as it is a criminal offence that can attract jail terms.

He urged customers to report complaints to IBEDC offices or call the customer care line,” the statement read in part.

Achife also warned against tampering with electrical installations, highlighting the dangers of such actions, which could lead to electrical accidents, he also advised the people to watch over their electrical installations and report any suspected acts of vandalism.

It is important that communities join us in the fight against vandalism to avoid being plunged into darkness,” he said.

From the news gathered, Busolami Tunwase, the IBEDC spokesperson, stated that the company recorded near-assault cases this year, adding that it would not want the same to continue.

“This year, we had near-assault cases. We don’t want it to become an issue, that is why we are appealing,” she remarked.
