Omowunmi, the widow of the late singer Mohbad, has made a special request to Nigerians in anticipation of her upcoming birthday.
On her Instagram story, she asked Nigerians to celebrate her husband instead of her on her birthday, as it will be the first time in many years that she will be celebrating without him.
Omowunmi described Mohbad as not just her husband, but also her best friend, confidant, and partner in gossip, among other things.
She revealed that the best birthday gift he ever gave her was their son, Liam, before his passing. Pleading with his fans, she asked them to celebrate the life Mohbad lived and to pray for his spirit.
Begging his fans, she told them to celebrate the life the singer lived and to pray for his spirit.
“This is the first time in many years that I’ll be celebrating my birthday without my husband promise! He was not just my husband, but also my best friend, confidant, gist partner and more. Today, all I want for my birthday is for his fans across the world to celebrate the life he lived.
I beg you all to say a prayer for the spirit of Ileriouluwa! Whether you choose to pray silently in your heart or post his picture on your profile. I ask that you sincerely pray for the soul of Ileriouluwa.
Let this day be dedicated to him, rather than to me. Because he has given me the best birthday gift before he was snatched from me! He gave me the gift of himself through our son, Liam. A child that I will love and cherish till the end of time.
Please celebrate Mohbad”.
Several months ago, Wunmi took to Instagram to disclose details about his death, implying that she had been silenced by bullies in the music industry regarding the incident.
She expressed her feelings of helplessness and claimed that these bullies had targeted her by releasing a voice note she had recorded years ago.
In another post, she pleaded for assistance, questioning whether Nigerians would allow the same fate that befell Mohbad to happen to her and her son.
She alleged that their lives were being threatened and that they had been deprived of their freedom. Recently, Wunmi was served a court order for a DNA test after the Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu granted the request.
Mohbad’s father’s legal team informed the court that they had made two unsuccessful attempts to serve Wunmi the court documents.
Consequently, the Chief Magistrate ordered that the court process be posted on Wunmi’s last known address, which was done by affixing it to her house gate.
