Thomas Ong Thian Chai (born February 1, 1969) is known professionally as Thomas Ong  Singaporean actor, television host, and businessman.

He films on an ad-hoc basis. He is best known for his roles in the films The Dragon Five as Zhao Tianbao and Waves of Courage as Zhao Wei.

Early Life & Education

Thomas Ong Thian Chai was born in Singapore on January 31, 1963, to the parents of Robert Ong and Trinh Huat.

He was born into a family of six children and he was raised alongside his five siblings, four brothers, and one sister.

His father Robert Ong was employed by the US Department of State in Washington, DC, while his mother  Trinh Huat was a well-known actress in Singapore.

Thomas had his education at St. Joseph’s Institution and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Career

Prior to his fame, Thomas Ong worked as a flight attendant for Singapore Airlines. In 1994, he began working for the newly established Television Corporation of Singapore and made his acting debut in Dr. Justice.

Three times in the 1990s, he was named one of the Top 5 and Top 10 Most Popular Male Artists.

He left MediaCorp to focus on other business ventures but returned after a while and signed a three-year contract in early 2012.

In January 2020, Thomas Ong officially announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.

He is a man of many talents. Not only is he an actor and television host, but he is also a successful businessman.
