“Tinubu’s policies are not viable even with the right team” – Adewole Adebayo

Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) candidate for president in 2023, claimed that despite the fact that President Bola Tinubu has the right team on his side, Nigerians will not benefit from his economic policies.

Adebayo made this claim on Sunday in an interview.

The SDP presidential candidate said the approach taken for Tinubu’s governing policies are improper.

He said “Tinubu has the right team but what he wants to do is not correct.”

“If I were to be Nigeria’s President, I wouldn’t remove petrol subsidy from day one as President but would have approached the National Assembly to amend the 2023 Appropriation Act to allow subsidy for a while.”

Adebayo said, “These policies are not good, not because of the party that is announcing them but because they are not suitable to us.”

He continued by saying that the outcomes currently seen in the nation would have been the same for any of the presidential aspirants in previous polls who had followed the incumbent’s policies.

“It doesn’t matter whom you put there, this will be the outcome once you adopt these policies,” he said.

The former flagbearer of the SDP stated that the Tinubu administration was facing three main challenges which includes: the expense of governance, the issue of subsidies, and forex.

Adebayo pointed out that while the incumbent’s policies had certain advantages, such as increased government and foreign exchange revenue, the nation was “not structurally prepared for the advertised benefits.”

He claimed that the initiatives’ benefits outweighed their limitations and that the Tinubu administration ought to be “less arrogant” in order to act morally and provide suffering Nigerians assistance.

Recall that the country is being faced with a high level of starvation, economic hardship, and unrest caused by the removal of fuel subsidy leading to protest in various parts of the country
