Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Robert Clark states that nothing may come out of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi’s appeal to the Supreme Court.
Recall that the Presidential Election Petition Court had after a 13-hour marathon judgement dismissed all the petitions brought before it, seeking to nullify the victory of Tinubu in the February 25 election.
However, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party vowed to proceed to the Supreme Court.
Reacting to this, Robert Clark, while featuring on Channels Television on Sunday said nothing will come out of the appeal.
The 85-year-old legal veteran said: “In my personal view, and I believe my personal view is enriched with my past experience in the dispensation of justice at the bar.
I have every belief and I seriously believe that the unanimous judgement of the Court of Appeal is unassailable, it is as fixed as you can fix anything and I can assure that if there is an appeal, I doubt if anything can come out of the appeal. Let us be clear to ourselves.
“All the matters, based on law that were brought before the tribunal, had already been adjudged by the apex court in this country.”
Clark noted that tribunal dismissed Atiku’s case because his lawyers didn’t provide any material of facts before it.
“Atiku failed to raise issues on point of law. How could he get a judgement in his favour” he queried.
On Obi’s petition, he said: “Almost all the four items that the Labour Party asked for were decisions that had been and heard upheld by the apex court.
“So, what are you asking the tribunal to do? To sit on an appeal against the judgment of the Supreme Court?.
